Yay!!!!
I finally got a new laptop! It took me forever to try and pick one out (w/ my brother), and for the most part was a very stressful experience -_- I know that once I get my old one back I will more than likely give this new one to my brother, and I wanted to buy a computer that would make him happy too. HE wanted a desktop, I wanted a laptop. Since it's my money, I got a laptop. It took us a good 20-30 minutes to narrow the choices down to 3, and then I made the final decision. I picked the Toshiba A215-s4747. It's very stylish looking, and has some really cool features: media player buttons, built in webcam/camera, and the ports for everything are perfectly placed. The screen is 15.4", very bright and clear, and has some pretty good speakers. I very happy with it... so much so that It's going to be pretty hard for me to let it go once I get my old one back!!!
It took me a little while to figure out Vista, but I'm doing okay with it so far. Of course, with my bad luck, something had to go wrong today. When I go it back to my room and had my brother try to set up the internet, it wouldn't work. Turns out that there is a problem with the system, and the OIT people probably won't check it out until tuesday. The only way for me ot access the interenet is at the library or the mountain lair ( where i am now). Well, it's better than nothing...
Yay Mountaineers!!!!! We won today's game :)
As you can see the quality of the built-in camera is low. BUT, it's conveniant and gets the job done, and also records video and can be used with skype :)
As you can see from the title, I still don't have a computer.
Infact, the money being sent to me hasn't even gotten here yet.
It's been 5 days since the check was sent(overnited actually), so I'm a bit frustrated.
As it turns out, The mail is actually only overnighted to the University - not the dorm mailboxes. The office lady said that I should wait until atleast tomorrow to call the local post office, so we'll see what happens.
My mail better come tomorrow!!!
But anyway... today I went exploring downtown again. I walked up and down both sides about twice, just checking out what was around. There were a ton of different restuarants, too many really :P It took me forever to decide where to eat at! I ended up picking a small Chinese food place. The food was pretty good, but not the best i've ever had :(
I really want to try out the Japanese restaurant that my Japanese teacher (Denda-sensei) works at. I think I'll go there for dinner sometime this week. If you want to go just let me know!
I know this is pretty random, but I finally found some lightbulbs!!! I didn't find any in the convenience store, none in the bookstore, and I had to walk all the way downtime to find a dollar general which luckily had some. Who would have thought it would be so much trouble to buy a lightbulb?!
Also, I got a new printer! Kinda funny, considering I don't have a computer to use with it... but hey, atleast it's there :p It's super nice, and prints my digital photos (yay!). The photo quality is excellent, much better than when I do it at the kodak instant printing stations. Speaking of photos, I miss posting pictures on here! My posts feel so bland without pics of what I'm talking about :(
I miss my laptop, I hope it comes back soon!!!
To make a long story short, I pretty much have no computer.
The charger port in the back of my laptop LITERALLY broke, and so now I have about 1 hour left of battery life on it.
I'm currently sitting in the library typing this -_-
So now, my parents have to come pick up my laptop and send it off to compUSA, which will then send it over to Japan, where it will take well over a month for them to fix the long list of things that are wrong with the computer.
In the mean time, I'm using $500 of my college money to buy a desktop to use until my laptop comes back.
Since my college fund came from my grandfather, he put my uncle incharge of the account. I basically had to beg him to give me the $500 ( of MY money) so I could buy one.
Thing is, he decided to make everything extremely difficult for me. He's sending a cashiers check off today ( I asked him to yesterday). If he doesn't overnight it, I won't get it until monday or tuesday. THEN, it will take a few days for the money to show up in my bank account!!! How hard is it to wire money into an account?! Come on now!!! Does he not realize that I NEED A COMPUTER ASAP?!?!?!
Obviously, he doesn't care. All he's worried about is the vacation he's going on today. Actually, he's probably leaving right now.
It took me forever to decide on what to buy. Should I get a new laptop (when I don't really need another one) or do I get a desktop (when I don't really want one.) So, I've decided to buy a Dell desktop. It's about $540 dollars, and when I get my laptop back I'll send the new one back to my brother, who really needs a new computer. I could be really selfish and buy myself another laptop, but I know my brother hates them, so I'm doing this more for him than for myself. Plus, when I buy a new laptop, i want it to be when i really need a new one, so I can buy a really nice one and not just a cheap one to use for a little while.
The one i'll probably get has a nice flat screen monitor, something i've never had before i got my laptop. The pc my brother has is almost 8 years old and still has one of the really big, chunky monitors. :p
Hopefully I'll be able to order it soon so I can have here asap, because I really don't want to have to come to the library everyday just to check email and such :(
I'll write again when something interetsing happens ^-^

~ I've noticed a lot more views on my vox lately :) I have no idea how you got here, but thanks for taking the time to look! Love you guys! ~
I'm so sad!!! Sunday... I have to... Take my computer to be repaired!!!!!! T-T On average, it takes 6 weeks for my laptop to be shipped out and then get back to CompUSA. I'm really dreading sunday...but I know that I need to get everything fixed on it before college. It's just so hard to let it go! I can't check my email...my fansubbed dramas...ebay goodies...translated mangas...new videos...the weather... What am I going to do!!!!!!!!!! Well, this does give me a chance to catch up on all of the books I bought but have yet to finish (or start).
Also, I quit my job! yay me! So, now that I don't have my $132 paycheck coming every 2 weeks... I wondering what i should do to make some money. Getting another job is out of the question, seeing that I'll be moving away to college in a month and I want to enjoy my summer. I was thinking of selling some of my books and manga I probably won't read again on eBay. But, if my computer is gone...-_- I could attempt to use the ancient one in my brothers room, but it's sooooo slow because of all the music he has on there. I'm talking 5000+ songs on a 9 year old desktop computer... yeah, you get the point. I'll figure something out, at least I hope so.
There are so many things I want to do this summer before college! But I highly doubt I'll be able to do them all -_-
Here is my list!:
~Go to Hershey Park ( yay chocolate!)
~Go to Washington D.C
-zoo
-Chinatown
-museums
~Get together with friends
~GET MY LAPTOP FIXED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously, It needs to be fixed. There a about 5+ things wrong with it.... It has dust in the screen, the clasp thing to close it broke off, the front little piece of plastic that holds the clasp broke, part of the tablet pen broke so it wont stay in the computer, AND the where you plug in the charger in the bag is really loose.
I hate to send it to be fixed though, because last time I sent it out, it came back with scratches on the top and the the place where you charge it was loose. My mom went to pick it up for me while I was in school, so she didn't realise anything was wrong until I pointed it out. The place where we got it fixed was about 2 hours away...so I didn't wotry about it much. But now the charger is REALLY getting on my nerves. I have to make sure its positioned a certain way in the computer or it won't charge. Its very frustrating -_-
